Carrot Flowers
Whether you a are skilled chef or an occasional cook, knowing how to make carrot flowers can brighten the day.
This is a really simple technique. Use a sharp knife and be slow and careful with your first carrots to practice. Don’t worry if they don’t come out perfectly. Do it again. And then do it again.
Once you get the technique down you will have it to use when ever you please.
When your are comfortable you can try making carrots with different numbers of petals. You can cut them super thin or chunky. Try a daikon radish or a zucchini….
I use carrot flowers as crudités (to dip or stacked), in raw salads, pickles, and in cooked dishes.
Next time you make a dish of carrots try cutting 1 or 2 into flowers and then cutting the rest of the carrots into (same size) slices. The carrot flowers will cook a little faster than the other carrots so add then after the 5 minutes or so……
Kids (young and old), love carrot flowers. It’s a great way to have fun with food. There are so many possibilities!
