Basic Quinoa
When I encounter a food that I have never eaten before I love to make it plain without seasoning and taste it. Just to say hello and experience what that food is.
I feel like this helps me understand what this ingredient has to offer in terms of flavor, texture, color, energy, etc…
It also gives a chance to learn how to cook it to achieve a good result.
This recipe is written for white quinoa. I find that the red and black quinoa can take a little longer cooking time.
Plain cooked quinoa can be used in a lot of ways. Today’s batch is going in burritos.
You can also add cooked quinoa to sautéed vegetables for a tasty side, or use in a stir fry with shrimp and snow peas. It can be added to nutritious fresh salads or made and put in the fridge to have on hand for quick meals during the week.
